According to Jeffrey Voas, the IEEE Fellow and computer scientist at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), there are harmful malwares in more than 2,000 free apps currently available, and Voas says that almost 1 in 100 free apps in 2012 will visibly contain malware — and there are possibilities for even more malware which will be beyond immediate detection.

A Turning Point for webOS

2011 has been an exciting year for mobile app industry with many dramatic developments, latest being HP’s announcement to make webOS available as open-source software.

HP had acquired the software from ailing Palm at a whooping price of US$1.2 billion in 2010 which had raised hopes of giving webOS a fresh leash of life. But due to lack of vision and clear cut strategy, HP failed to gain market share for webOS and had to announce its decision to discontinue with webOS operations in last August, leaving the future of webOS uncertain.

Mobile Applications Market to hit 1 million Milestone

Mobile app world is all set to to celebrate a major milestone of 1 million mobile apps next week, says Mobilewalla, a mobile analyst firm. According to Mobilewalla, a total of 991,524 apps are now available for  iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7  platforms collectively, and it will hit the magical number of 1 million sometime  next week. From Flash to HTML5 – Where is Adobe headed?

I was personally a big fan of Flash when it was launched for PCs. It redefined the user experience on web with its rich multi-media and interactive capabilities.But when it comes to mobile, Adobe Flash seems to be  a bit out of place.

Flash is bulky, consumes a lot of system resources, makes the browser dead slow and eats into battery lives of devices. Amazon kindles a new fire in Publishing Industry

A few days earlier, Amazon took the gadget lovers by surprise when they launched Kindle Fire which lines up amazing features at a fairytale price. Kindle Fire which features full colour display with multimedia capabilities, 90,000 e -books and 17 million music downloads, 100,000 movies and TV shows, and a cloud-enhanced Silk browser comes at a down to earth price of $199. This is lesser than half the cost of lowest priced model of iPad, and surprisingly much lower than the production cost of the device itself.
